US Appeals National Transgender Bathroom Injunction to 5th Circuit
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Department of Justice on Thursday appealed a nationwide injunction a federal judge issued this week against the Obama administration's directive that public schools let transgender students use the bathrooms of their choice. Texas and 12 other states sued the U.S. Departments of Education, Justice and Labor, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Wichita Falls Federal Court on May 25. Two school districts, one in Texas and one in Arizona, joined as plaintiffs.

A Wichita Falls man is accused of beating his brain-damaged stepson with a fly swatter until the boy turned purple, according an arrest warrant affidavit. Maurice Duane Jackson, 43, faces a third-degree felony charge of injury to a child.

First came the rats, then rattlesnakes in this North Texas city
Several pets in the city have been attacked by the venomous snakes, and one of the pets died, the newspaper reported. A couple hours northwest of Wichita Falls, near Childress, a 2-year-old boy from Grapevine suffered a rattlesnake bite on his leg last weekend, according to CBS 11 .
