On Thursday, 1st-grade students at Franklin Elementary were given a chance to not only celebrate Arbor Day but learn important facts about trees and the important role they play on this planet. The children cited how trees play an important part in providing the planet with oxygen and their ability to provide homes for animals and wildlife.

2017 Give Light Awards
The Junior League of Wichita Falls celebrated and honored non-profits and volunteers of all ages Thursday night, by presenting a total of nine different awards. This year's Life Time Achievement Award went to Felicia Douglas, the Legacy Builder Award was given to Gerald Hohfeld and the Emerging Leader Award went to Shena Barrett.

Electra man, deported 6 times is arrested in Wichita County
On Tuesday, April 18th, a police officer along with an animal control officer responded to a home in the 100 block of West Wharton to speak to someone in reference to an emaciated dog. The owner of the dog identified himself as Raul E. Gonzalez.

Wichita Falls man arrested for Sexual Assault and Indecency with a Child
On Sunday, Wichita Falls Police officers responded to a report about a 10-year-old girl claiming she had been sexually assaulted. The victim told her mother Christopher Wayne Morriss, 36, had been molesting her since she was 6 years old.

Driver arrested for DWI following accident in Wichita Falls
Wichita Falls Police said two vehicles were traveling one in front of the other in the 2400 block of Old Iowa Park Road near Central Freeway and Wolcott Lane when the rear vehicle ran into the other vehicle. The driver that was rear-ended was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Capital Murder warrant issued for 37 year old Dustin Hord
The warrant was issued by the Wichita Falls Police Department in connection with the death of 60-year-old Roger Aliff in October of 2016. A WFPD officer was stopped by a resident on October 4, 2016, who reported there was a man laying on the ground.

Church hopes to raise $40,000 for missions trip
A Texoma church is preparing for a missions trip to Africa, but a recent financial short fall has put the main purpose of the trip on hold.
