A TxDOT Wichita Falls crew headed to Sugarland Wednesday afternoon to help fix severe road damages that Harvey left behind. The crew left around 1:00 p.m. and is expected to stay there for a week to ten days.

Squirrels rescued from Harvey sent to Wichita Falls
More than 300 baby squirrels were brought to the Austin Wildlife Rescue after Harvey caused mass flooding across Southeast Texas. Kemp Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release Inc. in Wichita Falls and Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Amarillo decided to help out.

Army confirms final two missing crew members in Black Hawk helicopter crash near Hawaii are dead
The 25th Infanty Division said it carried out an administrative investigation to find out the personnel status of the two pilots after search-and-rescue efforts only produced evidence that three of the crew members were deceased. The Army announced Thursday the two remaining crew members who had been missing since a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter went missing near Oahu, Hawaii, Aug. 15 are deceased.

Man hits himself with cinder block, falsely claims assault: cops
A man in Texas is behind bars after he falsely claimed he was assaulted by another man, but actually assaulted himself, according to a report. Frank Stuart Nixon Jr., of Wichita Falls, alerted authorities to an intersection Wednesday morning, where they found him sitting on a curb with a piece of bloodied cloth held to his head, the Times Record News reported .

Saturday marks the one year anniversary of the death of 13 year old Lauren Landavazo, who was shot and killed walking home from school in Wichita Falls. The teen and her friend Makayla Smith were leaving McNiel Middle School, when a gunman shot them both of them, killing Lauren and injuring Makayla.
