Asst. City Manager eager to add to WF momentum
On Monday, Paul Menzies, a native Wichitan who graduated from Notre Dame High School took over in his new role. "For me, it goes way beyond just the position of Assistant City Manager being that this is home," Menzies said.

WFPD investigating armed robbery at Abel General Store
Wichita Falls police are investigating a late night armed robbery that happened Wednesday night in the 2400 block of Brook Avenue. Police say two men armed with handguns walked into Abel General Store around 9:30 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk.

AAA: One-third of 2017 cars lack spare tire
Last year more than 450,000 AAA members called for help after a flat tire and no spare in the car. Daniel Armbruster, a Texas/New Mexico spokesperson for AAA, said not having that spare can put many in an aggravating situation.

One mile added to Circle Hike & Bike Trail
On Thursday, the City of Wichita Falls announced the section of the trail located in the Wichita Bluff Nature Area off of Seymour Highway was complete. The new section continues from the Seymour Highway Trail parking lot easterly and has seven lookout spurs with views of the Wichita Falls Bluff Nature Area and Wichita River.

Plano woman sent books with weed hidden inside to inmate, police say
A Plano woman was arrested this month after she was accused of sending a prison inmate books with synthetic weed hidden inside. The Times Record News reports that Lydia Margaret Mann was arrested a week ago and charged with sending a prohibited substance to a correctional facility.

Midwestern State University is creating an advisory committee to combat sexual assault on campus following two new alleged assault were documented. Its purpose is to find out how widespread sexual assault is on campus and try to stop it from occurring like the accusations recently made.

Local group wants to stamp out bullying
Members of the Wichita Falls Community in Schools organization were dressed in purple Thursday to take part in Spirit Day, a national day dedicated to bullying prevention. "So many people are facing bullying," said Community in Schools board member, Cyndi Poling.

Computer theft on 9th Street leads to jail time
Around 10:55 am on Sunday, Wichita Falls police responded to the 3100 block of 9th Street in reference to a burglary. When police arrived, they spoke to one of two victims who said a man entered their trailer, took a laptop, a laptop charger, and a mouse.

2 arrested in burglary on Monroe Street
Wichita Falls police were called to the 1100 block of Monroe Street on Sunday after witnesses called to say two people were taking items out of a residence and loading them into the back of a gold truck. When police pulled the truck over, the driver, 34-year-old Gaylon Dorsey, stated that he paid the passenger, 58-year-old Diana Chambers, $100 for a water heater.

Wichita Falls police were called to the 3700 block of Seymour Road around 9:30 on Monday morning. When they arrived, they discovered that the suspect, 39-year-old Tanya Gassaway and her husband had been involved in a verbal disturbance at the address.

Mother, brother arrested for attacking boyfriend in Wichita Falls
They say the victim and his girlfriend were arguing at an apartment in Wichita Falls when Nancy Lindler and Justin Fields, the mother and brother of the female, came into the apartment and attacked her boyfriend. According to police, Lindler hit the victim in the leg with a baseball bat and Fields threatened the man with two knives.
