More than 30 Texas prisons had heating issues during a cold snap that brought freezing temperatures to much of the state this week, according to reports by inmates' family members. The Texas Inmate Families Association, a support and advocacy group, compiled reports by inmates' relatives that blamed poor insulation, broken windows and nonfunctioning heaters for the cold conditions in the facilities.

All of the major parts needed for the Wichita Falls indirect potable reuse project have been installed and the city is hoping to have water pumping from the River Road Wastewater Treatment Plant to Lake Arrowhead by the end of this week. Director of Public Works Russell Schreiber says the timing couldn't be better with drought conditions beginning show.

State hospital walk-off found by WFPD

Authorities have found a 'walk-off' patient from the state hospital in Wichita Falls 16 hours after leaving the property. WFPD officials said they received a call around 7:15 p.m. on Monday evening that a transfer patient from the Vernon campus had walked off the property and employees were searching for him.

A North Texas State Hospital patient who walked away from the hospital and was the subject of a search Monday night was taken into custody Tuesday morning. Sergeant Harold McClure with the Wichita Falls Police Department said Monday around 7 p.m. a North Texas State Hospital patient left the Wichita Falls campus without approval.

Teen served with two additional aggravated robbery warrants while behind bars

A young Wichita Falls man, behind bars accused of committing one aggravated robbery, was served with two warrants for two more aggravated robberies this week. On December 29, 2017, just after 8 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Dollar Saver convenient store in the 900 block of Kemp Blvd. The two store clerks said the store had just been robbed by suspect 19-year-old Raymond Durham, Jr. The clerks said Durham walked into the store wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt, black pants and blue shorts underneath and a black cover over his face and robbed the store at knife-point.
