Administrators at a Wichita Falls elementary school showed students what their hard work would eventually lead to earlier this month. On Thursday, April 5, 86 4th and 5th-grade students from Booker T Washington Elementary took a break from preparing for the STAAR test and toured two universities.

Communities in Schools inducted into Chamber of Commerce
The Gold Coat Ambassadors welcomed Communities in Schools into the Wichita Falls Chambers of Commerce Thursday with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. Communities in Schools has staff inside WFISD, where they work with teachers and parents to provide students a community of support ultimately empowering them to stay in school.

Woman sought after child tests positive for drugs
The Wichita Falls Police Department has a warrant out for a woman wanted for the charge of Endangering a Child. On January 19, 2018, detectives were assigned to investigate after a one-year-old was reported to have fallen which resulted in a broken arm.

Churches and schools join forces to improve Wichita Falls communities
Several leaders have joined forces to help Kirby, Hirschi High and Kate Burgess Elementary in hopes of bettering the schools as well as their surrounding areas. Pastors and school staff members are launching Operation Fresh Start, an initiative that will include school fundraising and neighborhood revitalization.

Grass fire sparks on Missile Road median
Wichita Falls firefighters said it took them about ten minutes to put out a grass fire that sparked in the median on Missile Road near Central Freeway Saturday afternoon. Fire crews are warning people to be cautious when cooking outside and with chains on their vehicles.

Trio arrested in connection with early February assault
Three people were arrested over the weekend in connection with an early February assault of a man in Wichita Falls. Officers reached out to the victim who said he was contacted by Angelica Wade, 21, earlier on February 2 asking if the victim wanted to meet up and smoke marijuana with a group of friends.

WFPD issues capital murder warrant after Tuesday morning shooting
The Wichita Falls Police Department has issued a capital murder warrant after a man was killed around 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Police say they are looking for 22-year-old Eric Glenn Lee II of Wichita Falls.

Wichita Falls is one out of six cities chosen to implement the LENA Program.
The Wichita County Parents as Teachers program along with the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters program were chosen to check out the LENA program. That makes Wichita Falls one of six cities in the state to participate.
