Failed sprinkler closes down Wichita Falls Public Library
It flooded the childcare's area in the first floor of the library. Library staff said the sprinkler sprayed water out for 40 minutes yesterday morning.

Bills addressing Child Protective Services unanimously pass out of their chambers
Two House bills and a Senate bill that would change the way Child Protective Services operates in Texas unanimously passed out of their respective chambers Wednesday afternoon. House Bill 5 authored by Rep. James Frank, R-Wichita Falls, would make the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services an executive level agency that reports directly to the governor.

Food Fight
For one day only The Junior League of Wichita Falls will be competing against the Junior Leagues of Lubbock, Bryan-College Station, Lawton, Amarillo, Bell County, Odessa, Abilene, Waco, and San Angelo to see who can raise the most food for their respective food bank through a Food Bank Challenge. This is the 2nd annual "Food Fight" where they work with the Food Bank to collect as much food as possible.

Archer City school bus crash sends two children to the hospital with minor injuries
Around 7:20 a.m. on Highway 79 just north of Archer City, a school bus was stopped in the roadway near Carter Road. While the bus was stopped, 26-year-old Ryan Walls of Wichita Falls hit the bus in the back end.

Spokane Empire fall in double overtime to Wichita Falls - Fri, 03 Mar 2017 PST
Charles Dowdell threw for six touchdowns and 254 yards, but even that wasn't enough as the visiting Spokane Empire fell to the Wichita Falls Nighthawks 57-65 in double overtime on Friday in Wichita Falls, Texas in Indoor Football League action. In the second overtime, the Empire scored on Dowdell's fourth-down pass to Trevor Kennedy and appeared to have won on a Kennedy two-point conversion when he leaped over defenders from the 3-yard line - but a penalty erased the play.

Kids cast a line at Kid's Fishing Rodeo
The event was put on by the City of Wichita Falls Parks and Recreation Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife. Kids were able to grab their fishing poles and cast a line into the lake for a chance to catch a fish.

A 'Blessing Box' is creating a sense of community in Wichita Falls
On Friday, February 24th, a 'Blessing Box' was put up on the open corner, down the street from The Corner Community Center on 10th street. Director, Jeremy Aaron, said the idea was sparked by his wife after she had seen videos online of other 'blessing boxes' and their success across the country.
