A Wichita Falls man was convicted by a Denton County jury Tuesday of capital murder after the case was transferred from Wichita County, according to an article on page one of the Jan. 14, 2015 edition of the Wichita Falls Times Record News newspaper. Jerry Joe Garza was an absentee defendant for most of his trial as he sat in his jail cell while evidence was presented.

A former Wichita Falls police officer is guilty of three counts of manslaughter for the deaths of two young females and an unborn baby. Today's verdict comes three and a half years after Yeni Lopez, 18, her unborn child and Gloria Montoya, 13. Teddie Whitefield, who was on duty for the police department at the time, was driving at least 75 miles per hour on Jacksboro Hwy.
