Wichita Falls, TX - A Texas lawmaker that authored a 2011 bill that makes it difficult for convicts to receive crime-scene DNA testing says he is proposing a new bill to change it. Sen. Rodney Ellis of Houston said it would clear up the current law on the books stating that a convicted person may request testing of "evidence containing biological material."

Defendants Sentenced in Drug Distribution Conspiracy
Two defendants, who pleaded guilty in June 2014 to their respective roles in a crack cocaine/cocaine powder distribution conspiracy that operated in Wichita Falls and McAllen, Texas, have been sentenced, announced John Parker, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. Yesterday, U.S. District Judge Reed C. O'Connor sentenced Rodolfo Trevino , 34, of Wichita Falls, to a 97-month term of imprisonment.

Man Sentenced to 40 Years for Sexual Assault of a Child
A Vernon man was sentenced to forty years in prison during proceedings of the 46th Judicial District Court of Wilbarger County on Wednesday afternoon. Michael Booker, 42, of Vernon, was sentenced to forty years in prison following his plea of guilty to sexual assault of a child.

Two Arrested After SWAT Scenario Occurs On Kenley

Fender bender
A Jeep, driven by David Gilbert of Richland Hills, collided with a Ford Minivan driven by Mykel Hodges of Wichita Falls in 2900 block of West Walker Thursday afternoon. Hodges was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital via Heart of Texas EMS ambulance.

A packed house as Texas State Senators took testimony on two gun related issues: open carry which -- just like it says -- means carrying your handgun out in the open, and campus carry which would allow you to take your gun to college.

Balanced Attack Carries'Cats Past Odessa
Behind three points from Jake Townsend and goals from five different skaters, the Wichita Falls Wildcats bested the Odessa Jackalopes to complete the weekend sweep at the Kay Yeager Coliseum on Saturday night. Townsend notched a goal and two assists in the win, giving him 30 points on the season, while Tommy Apap and Max Reisinger both tallied a goal and an assist.
