North Texas into Rolling Plains remains drought-stressed
Texas continues to make progress in easing out of drought status with currently only 35 percent of the state considered in moderate to exceptional drought. But all is not well; a significant area in North Texas, Mineral Wells to Wichita Falls and up into Childress, remains in extreme to exceptional drought status and is not expected to improve any time soon, according to the latest Texas Drought Monitor and the Texas Water Development Board.

Tuesday City Councilors voted to award the bid and contract for the 2015 Micro-surfacing Project to Intermountain Slurrly Seal, Inc., a Lewisville contractor. The project will fund $62,730.50 in street improvements.

Narcotics Found in Vehicle After Traffic Stop
A traffic stop put one man behind bars after police found drugs inside the vehicle. Around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday night, Wichita Falls Police stopped an orange Dodge pickup on North Beverly and Borton for not stopping at a stop sign.

Woman Claiming to be a Nurse is Arrested for Prescription Fraud
Wichita Falls Police say 34-year-old Lacey Lynn Harms called the same pharmacy seven times, pretending to be a nurse, claiming that her doctor needed a prescription for Adipex filled for a patient. The pharmacy become suspicious and called the doctor Lynn was supposedly getting the prescription for, who said it was a fraudulent prescription.

Ruling Won't Affect Law Enforcement Agencies in Texoma
Despite a Supreme Court ruling, law enforcement agencies in Wichita County said it will not affect how they catch criminals. On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that police can't drag out traffic stops so that drug-sniffing dogs can check vehicles.
