TX DPS finds 44lbs of heroin, worth $5.6 million - KSWO, Lawton, OK- Wichita Falls, TX: News, Weather, Sports. ABC, 24/7, Telemundo - AMARILLO, TX The Texas Department of Public Safety seized over 44 pounds of heroin after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Potter County on August 16. At approximately 4:13 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 1995 BMW passenger car traveling east on IH-40 near Amarillo, for a traffic violation.

A federal judge in Fort Worth has blocked the Obama administration from enforcing rules requiring public schools to let transgender students use bathrooms and locker rooms that conform to their gender identity. Responding to a lawsuit filed by Texas and joined by 12 other states, U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor issued a preliminary injunction late Sunday, ruling that the directive violated federal notice and comment requirements and contradicted existing law and regulations.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - In Texas' latest salvo in its fight over national transgender policies, the state says the Obama administration cannot change the determination of gender from "biological fact" to a "state of mind" and force physicians to perform sex-reassignment surgeries. Texas, four other states and three physicians associations sued the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday in Federal Court, claiming the new Affordable Care Act rule is an example of "regulatory overreach that is invading the coffers" of the state and violating the "medical judgment and conscience rights" of physicians.
